Honda Marine BF90

Record-Breaking Fuel Economy

Impressive fuel-flow figures delivered by Honda's new BF75 and BF90 four-stroke outboards take the term 'fuel efficient' to an even greater level.

Extensive testing of Honda's BF90 on a 5.22m aluminium bass-style boat, pushing a total load of 840kg, revealed miserly fuel consumption of just 8.3L/h at 3500rpm / 37.2km/h, equating to an extremely economical 4.47km per litre of fuel used!

Honda Marine Australia Manager Tim Davies said this superior fuel efficiency complemented other industry-leading aspects of these new engines - performance, lightweight and environmental friendliness.

"Honda's advanced four-stroke technology is proven in motor vehicles, motorcycles and power equipment, and in all of these fields is well-known for its amazing power and fuel economy," Mr Davies said.

"The fact this proven technology performs equally as well in a marine environment doesn't really come as a surprise to anyone at Honda!"

Attendees at recent dealer conferences on the Gold Coast and in Sydney were astounded at some of the quoted test results. "Factory engine tests of the BF90, fitted to a range of aluminium and fibreglass boats and pushing loads of 70 per cent or greater, showed this engine to be using an average of 10L/h at 4000rpm and speeds up to 45km/h," Mr Davies said.
