DEALERSHIP NEWS
Girls love their Hondas
Extra unplanned advertising is always welcome, a good recent example being when these ladies dropped anchors together out on the Knysna lagoon. As you’ll see from the photo, these ladies certainly love their Hondas. What’s more if you have the courage, a bottle of sparkling soda, and a Honda outboard powering your steed, they might perhaps let you join them, even if only for a brief moment…

Leisure Boating makes a pit stop in Knysna
Dean Castle, the editor of Leisure Boating, South Africa’s premier boating magazine, recently visited the shop and tested 4 exciting and fairly diverse boats (see above and at the top), so be sure to get future copies of the mag to check out his findings.
Development Work on the Shop’s Workhorse continues
To speed up boat delivery/ retrieval time much work has been going on to improve the aerodynamics of our workhorse bakkie. We feel that the fitment of an overhead wing in the shape of a ‘Whisper’ boat will create the additional downforce required to increase cornering speeds, whilst the attachment of a ‘Tarpon’ twin mounted rudder system will greatly improve directional stability on both Long Street and Waterfront Drive! Rest assured that our extensive R & D programme will continue until the ultimate solution is found…

PRESS RELEASES
Castrol Honda Returns to World Superbike Championship

Those that watch motorcycle racing will have noticed the latest incarnation of an iconic team returning to the World Superbike championship in the form of the Castrol Honda team, with the global lubricants brand announcing title sponsorship of Honda’s superbike effort for the 2011 season.

The new team features riders Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus campaigning Hondas CBR1000RR Fireblade, with the squad being run by the Netherlands based Ten Kate Racing outfit, who have led Honda’s World Superbike effort since 2004.

Castrol’s association with Honda’s motorcycle racing activities goes all the way back to the Japanese manufacturer’s first foray into the sport at the Isle of Man TT in 1959, with the two companies going on to celebrate 50 years of racing together in 2009.

BOATING TIP OF THE MONTH
Pets On Board

The best way to introduce your pet to boating is to spend some time together on the boat when it’s tied up to the dock. Some animals have an innate fear of the water and will never be comfortable on a boat. If your pet trembles at the site of water, you may have to leave him or her home when you go boating.
However, if your pet seems comfortable on the boat when secured at the dock, the sound of the engines may drive them nuts (then again if they are Hondas, they won’t hear them anyway!). Before leaving the dock, test this by running the engines. Animals hear a wider range of sounds than humans do and may be more sensitive to engine noises than you are.

NAUTICAL INFO
Earth's Dust and Plankton from Space: New Views from Envisat Satellite

ScienceDaily (Apr. 17, 2011) — Europe's Envisat satellite has captured dust and sand from the Algerian Sahara Desert located in northern Africa, blowing west across the Atlantic Ocean.

Stretching across the eastern Atlantic, strong winds carry the plume over the northwestern tip of the Iberian Peninsula (bottom), the western tip of France, the southwestern tip of England (top right) and the southwestern coast of Ireland (top left).

Dust from the Sahara Desert – the world’s largest desert, encompassing around 8.6 million sq km – can be transported over thousands of kilometres by atmospheric convection currents. These convection currents form when warm, lighter air rises and cold, heavier air sinks.
